[Life in Toronto] Before Fall term starts

by Sangwook.Aaron.Kim 2021. 8. 13.

I just arrived here in Toronto a few days ago.

Since the pandemic situation here is still bad, I had to take a few covid tests and 14 days mandatory quarantine.

Fortunately, none of the test results showed positive :) Great!

After moving in to my new home, which is located near Eaton Center. I had to make my furniture from IKEA. This is my first time for it, but fortunately me and my roommate were managed to finish them. Yesterday, we also ordered some groceries from Wall-mart so that we can stay safe (hopefully not starving) here.

Great thing here, thanks to the fact that our unit is 39th floor, we can see beautiful night sky in Toronto everyday. It's fascinating and sometimes I call my friend and compare this over the city view in Seoul, especially in Myeong-dong.

Actually, two cities are all good, but due to the fact that Toronto is still not familiar to me at all, I think Toronto is better so far.

Now I started to worrying starting my PhD program in UofT. Honestly, I'm not a good graduate student. Researching and implementing great codes for my experiment, all the stuff was kinda making me bored when I was in Seoul. However, this is new place and situation, I've already started onboarding process at UHN. It already started, and I have to face this situation with fear.

Oh, by the way, I think my English skill hasn't been improved since last year. I still use Papago and Google translator which are in fact better than me. So I started writing this post in English and hopefully my English improve some day.

That's all for today and perhaps I have to write diary on a daily basis to practice English for widening the range of word selection and improving fluency.
